The Busy Woman Project - Part Two

Posted on 11 November 2017

Work-life balance is a priority for many of us. How do you define work-life balance in your own life?

In collaboration with The Busy Woman Project, we're sharing tips from ambassadors who manage the great balancing act of work, play and family.

VANESSA WONG @vanlml

Graphic Designer & Photographer

Vanessa is a creative based in Hong Kong who works in all mediums of creative matters, from photography, branding, social media to graphics.

1. How do you juggle your career, family and social life and find time to exercise?

Setting up daily routines, the must-dos for every day no matter how hectic work can be sometimes. Since I work as a freelancer, it is important for myself to set up daily routines in order to spend quality time with myself, friends and family. 30-45 minutes of stretching every morning is a must-do for me since it clears my mind to kick off a productive day ahead.

2. How do you keep yourself looking and feeling good?

Stay true to myself, trust my feelings rather than putting the attention to a 'how do I look good in front of people' kind of way. True friends love you for who you truly are.

3. What are your top tips for women trying to keep a balanced lifestyle?

Always squeeze a me-time every day, take a moment or two to spend time with yourself is mandatory. Do one thing that will make yourself feel happy each day and keeps your mind healthy and positive. We always have a full bucket of things to do every day, write them out on a paper and tick them out one by one.

VANESSA BUDIHARDJA @chillibean

Health Food Entrepreneur & Nike Trainer

Vanessa calls Jakarta home and left her corporate job to pursue a career in health and fitness. Vanessa co-founded Pura Vida, a delivery service for healthy treats and is a certified ACE Trainer, indoor cycling teacher and is one of the two Nike trainers in the whole of Jakarta.

1. How do you juggle your career, family and social life and find time to exercise?

Planning is the key to success. Every end of the week, I will always plan out my appointments and routes for the rest of the week. This is essential if you live in a congested city like Jakarta.

2. How do you keep yourself looking and feeling good?

Eating clean 70% of the time, waking up early to exercise, taking monthly time off to recharge.

3. What are your top tips for women trying to keep a balanced lifestyle?

- Always make the time to exercise - treat it as you would a meeting. You only have one body to live in - invest in it!
- Use high-quality organic coconut oil as a moisturizer right after you hop out of the shower, this keeps your skin super soft and supple and smelling super good!
- Also, to maintain gut health, which is essential to living a healthy life, take a probiotic supplement daily on an empty stomach.
