MISCHA x Osaka 88 Hotel
Posted on 27 January 2020
The early inspirations for MISCHA came from a trip to Japan many years ago. Since then, it has been a source of inspiration both in my creative philosophy and sense of aesthetics. I would spend hours exploring antique markets and started collecting vintage textiles. My fascination with fabrics then led me to design my first collection but I've always had aspirations to design more than just handbags. My wish finally came true with an interiors project for a boutique hotel in Osaka!
We collaborated with the eccentric owners of Osaka 88 to design the soft furnishings in each room. I incorporated MISCHA's signature hexagon print into the cushions to compliment the minimal interiors. The hexagon print represents the sea turtle's shell, symbolising longevity.
Set in the heart of Shinsaibashi neighbourhood, it's perfectly located for exploring nearby hidden gems and a definite stopover before heading to Kyoto.
Taking inspiration from the interiors, we kept the colour palette neutral by using natural raw canvas. We used the signature hexagon print in oversize format and embroidered it in charcoal grey. The contrasting textures pay homage to the antique Japanese textiles MISCHA was founded upon. Read more about how MISCHA started here.
Osaka 88 has kindly offered MISCHA clients a complimentary room upgrade if you book directly with them here.
