How to Style: Monogram Totes
Posted on 01 December 2016
In the world of bags, totes would have to be a woman’s best friend. As cute as clutches and crossbodys are, they simply don’t fit our growing gadgets, pashminas and the myriad of other things we “need” to get out of the house. So in honor of our BFF, here are three ways to style this handy staple in every woman’s closet!
DAYTIME
During this awkward transitional weather, sometimes it gets too warm in the afternoons and a little too chilly at night. So pair a cozy, navy knit in a flared silhouette (the it-piece this season) and some patterned wool shorts for the best of both worlds. Now just throw on a pair of preppy oxfords to dress down the tote and you’re ready for a breezy stroll in the park.
OFFICE
Burgundy and cream make for a sophisticated fall palette. Pair a ribbed, mock turtleneck with a satin skirt for a hint of femininity while staying office-appropriate, then bring out the warm oxblood tone of the bag with a complementing pair of loafers or heels. Brownie points for a matching lip!
NIGHT OUT
If you thought a tote can’t be used for night out, think again. A black leather tote with a red interior is as sexy as they come, and all you need is a pair of leather pants (preferably in the crop-flared variety as per this season’s trend) and a romantic, Victorian top to get ready for date night. Oh, and don’t forget the stilettos to amp up the evening vibe!
