Hong Kong Staycations 2020

Posted on 26 November 2020

It's no doubt that 2020 has been tough for everyone. It feels like ancient history when we could book a flight and get excited about staying at a new hotel or try a new retreat. Whether you need to need a change of scenery or want some much needed R&R, Hong Kong has plenty of stay-cay options to suit everyone. From camping to 5-star luxury, here’s our pick of Hong Kong’s best staycation spots of 2020.

1. Tai O Heritage Hotel, Lantau Island

Step into Hong Kong history with the restored Tai O Heritage Hotel, a former police station converted into a luxury 9 room boutique hotel. It overlooks the oldest fishing village in Hong Kong, where traditional stilt houses are still occupied by fishermen and their families today. The hotel offers tours of the area and a sunset cruise so you can get the most of your time out of the city.

2. Beach Club, Pui O

If you are looking for a complete change of scenery, camping at Treasure Island Group’s Beach Club in Pui O will take you away from it all. With 3.5km of beach as your view when you wake up, you are surrounded by nature. They offer already set up 2-4 person tents with all the necessary equipment (a smores kit) to make your camping adventure as enjoyable as possible. They have BBQ facilities or head next door to Mavericks, one of our favourite beachside hangouts for chilled Californian vibes.

3. The Fleming, Wan Chai

The Star Ferry inspired boutique hotel, The Fleming, offers a stylish home away from home with a 1960s art deco aesthetic and hint of old Hong Kong nostalgia. With 66 ship cabin-inspired rooms right in the heart of Wan Chai, this hotel is great for a mini getaway with everything at your fingertips.  The hotel's Italian restaurant Osteria Marzia also has a great evening buzz.

3. Gold Coast Hotel

A seaside escape, Gold Coast Hotel is situated around tropical gardens and Hong Kong's longest stretch of beach. With a resort style pool, day spa and walking tracks, you can remove yourself from the chaos of the concrete jungle in just 35 minutes.

4. Rosewood Hotel

The newest edition to our staycation wish list, the Rosewood Hong Kong is one of our favourites. The majestic views of the harbour, selection of restaurants at Victoria Dockside and Asaya Spa means a one night is not enough. And you don't have to feel guilty about leaving your pet at home as the hotel is pet friendly, providing special amenities and treats for your pooch!

5. The Murray

Packed with dining credits and family-friendly perks, The Murray Staycation is an ideal city getaway. With a serene indoor lap pool and spa offering, it's perfect even for a weeknight escape. We recommend romantic sundowners at Popinjays on the rooftop followed by room service.

6. Landmark Mandarin Oriental

Located in the heart of Central, the Staycation by MO package was designed to make you feel like you’ve left the city far behind. Priced from HK$3,900 a night and available until 31 March 2021, the package includes a room upgrade, a ‘bespoke’ bathtub experience infused with luxuriant bath salts, and a dining/spa credit for each night's stay.
