Hong Kong Staycations

Posted on 11 January 2018

Fancy a little getaway, without actually having to hop on a plane? Whether you need to get away from the hustle and bustle or have some much needed R&R, Hong Kong has plenty of stay-cay options to suit everyone. From camping to 5-star luxury, here’s our pick of Hong Kong’s best staycation spots.

Tai O Heritage Hotel, Lantau Island

Step into Hong Kong history with the restored Tai O Heritage Hotel, a former police station converted into a luxury 9 room boutique hotel. It overlooks the oldest fishing village in Hong Kong, where traditional stilt houses are still occupied by fishermen and their families today. The hotel offers tours of the area and a sunset cruise so you can get the most of your time out of the city.

Beach Club, Pui O

If you are looking for a complete change of scenery, camping at Treasure Island Group’s Beach Club in Pui O will take you away from it all. With 3.5km of beach as your view when you wake up, you are surrounded by nature. They offer already set up 2-4 person tents with all the necessary equipment (a smores kit) to make your camping adventure as enjoyable as possible. They have BBQ facilities or head next door to Mavericks, one of our favourite beachside hangouts for chilled Californian vibes.

The Fleming, Wan Chai

Newly opened boutique hotel, The Fleming offers a stylish home away from home with a 1960s art deco aesthetic. With 66 ship cabin-inspired rooms right in the heart of Wan Chai, this hotel is great for a mini getaway with everything at your fingertips.

Gold Coast Hotel

A seaside escape, Gold Coast Hotel is situated around tropical gardens and Hong Kong's longest stretch of beach. With a resort style pool, day spa and walking tracks, you can remove yourself from the chaos of the concrete jungle in just 35 minutes.

Cheung Chau Bed & Breakfast

Hop on the fast ferry at Central Pier and in just 35 minutes find yourself immersed in a community that is thriving with local artisans, where bikes are the only mode of transport on the island. Explore ancient rock carvings, temples, walking trails and even a real pirates cave! The quaint Cheung Chau Bed & Breakfast will offer you a real change of pace.

Ovolo Southside

A converted warehouse, Ovolo Southside feels like it belongs in New York's Meatpacking District. The boutique hotel fits perfectly into the industrial art scene of the Southside and offers a bunch of freebies like wifi, breakfast, minibar and happy hour (yes, that’s right!) Within walking distance to Ocean Park and with the newly opened MTR station across the road, you have access to the city at your doorstep.

Hyatt Regency

Craving some 5-star luxury, but don't want to be in Central? Venture out to Sha Tin and soak in the mountain views whilst sipping a cocktail at the pool. You can hire a bike from the hotel and explore the local sights along Tolo Harbour or pamper yourself at Melo Spa and enjoy the peace and quiet this location provides. If you're bringing the kids along, Camp Hyatt offers a host of activities for kids to keep them busy while you enjoy your little getaway.
